my condolences to both of you. He was so proud of Davalyn's achievements. Often over lunch at The Cup we would do our 'organ recitals' and joke about life. He would crack a joke and repeat the punch line as he snickered to himself....joyfully. I particularly enjoyed his scat singing in One Foot Down.

So sorry for your loss. I grew up across the street from the Powell's. Dave and I would serve mass together early in am. I have seen him a few times with Rich Smith in the last 10 years for they would stop at my tavern and we would share some laughs.

I worked at CUP and LOVED whenever Dave came in. He was such a genuinely kind, caring individual that everyone loved. I still remember his laughter and our discussions over tea or a scone. I just heard about Mr. Dave’s passing and I am heartbroken. My condolences go out to the family as a whole, along with any friends that are coping with the loss.

I will always remember David's laugh and his kind soul. We first connected at a drum circle and he was the one who always made me feel welcome. Over the past several years we often crossed paths at the Cup and solved all of the worlds issues ... or decided we must just set them aside and talk about Native American teachings. But somewhere ALWAYS in the chat was an update on his daughter, whom he loved beyond the moon. Peace to each of you.

Dearest David, Your Spirit will never be forgotten. I am saddened to hear you wings are flying high. The CD I have of your spirit sounding out to the Universe will always stay precious to me. All the wonderful sounds you blow and spoke around me during my healing. You have left so much behind for everyone to remember you. All my love. Lynn

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Such a kind gentle soul. When I think of Dave, I think of the Coyote. With gentle humor he explained to me the spiritual meaning of the coyote which motivated one of my improvised music compositions.

Coyote Symbolism from the website "Messages from the Universe"

"...Coyote Spirit Animal appears for you when you seem to have lost your way.
Coyote animal speaks of the path less traveled, of the path that is hidden from plain view ~ as this is where you will find your way to the answers you seek.
Solutions many times come in unexpected ways and the Coyote is the trusted guide on this mysterious path."

Dave Powell's death saddens me because I remember his enthusiasm for life. He was the only teacher I had for consecutive years as he moved from Math to Science and he certainly encouraged the environmentalist in me. Years later, talking with him when he paused on one of his frequentbike rides, I recall the pride he expressed in his daughter's career and his interest in what I had progressed to doing. Sorry his loved ones have suffered this loss.

My deepest sympathy to Mr. Powell's family. I had Mr. Powell in 7th grade for science--I hated science until I had him as a teacher--rocketry was amazing, He will always be my favorite teacher. I even had an opportunity many years ago to go see him while he was still teaching and told him how much a difference he had made. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, but he will be remembered always!

I was so saddened to see the notice of Dave's passing in this morning's paper. Dave and I taught on the same team at East Middle for six years. He was a thoughtful and kind man who helped shape my now 28-year and counting teaching career. My prayers are with you and your family.

Jacki and Davalyn...I am so sorry that Dave left so suddenly, so unexpectedly. It has been my great pleasure to know him for 40 years. I appreciated his thoughtful kindness and great love for nature. Dave's generosity to our family, especially to our son Paul, was cherished and will always be remembered.

I can still hear the sound of his laughter and will listen for his spirit in the wind. ...with love. Vickii
