Betty Jean Davis

Betty Jean Davis, 82, of Westminster, went quietly home to be with the Lord among family on Saturday evening, April 8, 2017.  Born in Widen, WV, to a coal mining family, she never lost the “Mountains” inside.  She lived briefly in Canton, Ohio after her marriage and raised three sons as a homemaker in Clarkson, New York.  She was devoted to her husband of 65 years and her family.

She moved to Westminster, MD in 1986, where she finished raising a granddaughter, and continued her loving service to her family, her husband, and her church.

She loved cooking, gardening, attending ladies’ bible study, teaching Sunday school, but most of all she cherished family gathering time with children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband; John Davis, Sr., sons John N. Davis, Jr. and wife Alice of Westminster, Marty D. Davis of Clarkson, NY, a sister Della Mae Wilson of Cincinnati, OH, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by a son Robert D. Davis and 5 siblings.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service; 11 a.m. at Clearfield Bible Church, 1303 Old Westminster Pike, Westminster, MD 21157, with her Pastor Garry Sheaffer officiating.  Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
