John Byron Wagner, Jr.

John Byron Wagner, Jr., 89, of Shipley, died Friday evening, Feb. 17, 2012 at the Carroll Hospital Center.  Born November 13, 1922 in Shipley, he was the son of the late Lena Zepp Wagner and John B. Wagner, Sr.  Survived by his wife of 27 years, Louise Wagner.

He worked his entire life as a sixth generation farmer and also worked as a carpenter for Union 101.  

He was a life member of Zion United Methodist Church and played in the Carroll County Hay Shakers band.  He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and playing music.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Joyce Wargny of Hagerstown, sons and daughter-in-law John B. Wager III of Shipley and Ronnie and Mindi Wagner of Westminster; a sister Alverta Glover of Westminster.  Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister Treva Wagner.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, 2716 Old Washington Rd., Westminster with Rev. Richard Shamer officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church.
